• Family Heritage: His mother, Pamela Mary Brown, gave him a deep appreciation for his Scottish and Celtic roots (tracing back to the historic Clan Lamont). His father, brother, and uncle were multi-instrumentalists, while his mother sang in local choirs.
• Academic Move: His father is an internationally recognized physicist and the former Chairman of the Physics Department at Yale University. Because of his father's academic career, Peter moved to New Haven, Connecticut at the age of eight.
• Musical Training: Peter began rigorous classical piano lessons at age six, forging a technical foundation that would later anchor his expansive improvisational style.

• New Age & Healing Music: He has composed extensive long-form ambient works optimized for meditation, yoga, Reiki, and massage therapy.
• Acoustic & Classical Impressionism: His acoustic piano compositions rely heavily on cinematic, emotionally driven melodies, often paired with acoustic instrumentation.
• Smooth Jazz & Worldbeat: For over 35 years, he has written upbeat smooth jazz and world-fusion arrangements, layer-sampling woodwinds and complex world percussion via keyboard controllers.
• Celtic Fusion: Drawing heavily from his family heritage, he regularly records pieces rooted in traditional English, Irish, and Scottish folklore, such as his track "Mist on the Mountains".

• Michael Gregory Jackson: American guitarist and composer celebrated for his innovative contributions across genres such as jazz, R&B, avant-garde, rock, blues, and free jazz. Over the years Jackson has played, recorded and/or collaborated with: Billy Hart, Steve Winwood, Anthony Braxton,  Wadada Leo Smith, Patti LaBelle, Omar Hakim, and many others.
